Book review: 'Holiness for Housewives' by Hubert Van Zeller.
One sentence summary: This is a simple book to read to inspire you to do the little things to be closer to Jesus and become a holier version of the woman you are meant to be. It does require a certain level of spiritual readiness and willingness, but it is lighthearted and easy to read.
Favorite quote: "This next hour or two is going to be perfectly vile. I pray, Lord, that I may keep my head and that You may be praised by what I do. I shall not be able to think of You but You won't mind that".
What I liked: It was broken up in short sections so that I was motivated to at least read one section in the morning to meditate on and try to incorporate into my day. It was realistic while also being encouraging to try and do more.
What I didn’t like: It was too short! I had to savor each section and stop myself from reading it too fast. I wish there was more!
Drink I would pair with this book: .Coffee, this was my beverage every morning to motivate myself...but if you are really holy you won't need anything.
Sort of person I would recommend this book to: Women- married or single- who have a sense of spirituality but would like to go to the next level.
What I learned from reading this book: I need to be more consistent with my spiritual duties and God will give me the grace to do so if I just give Him the time and prayers.
How I felt about this book: 5 spiritual gold stars!
Further reading it inspired: Anything by Van Zeller is motivating and worth the read. He does also have book recommendations at the end.
