The Pain of Perspective
I am writing today about the pain perspective. I have found there are 2 main pain points when is comes to perspective. But first! Let us define what is perspective: according to the google search definition it has something to do with art/angles- but the definition to which I am referring is "a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view".
Now the 2 pain points are:
1st realizing there is an attitude to be had. Meaning that you have happened upon the knowledge that you are in lack of, dire need, or at some disadvantage because you have a lack of a particular attitude or point of view.
The 2nd pain point is acquiring the said needed point of view. Not only is the 1st point knowledge or realization but then you have to want, choose, and move yourself to accept that desired point of view.
Now why do we care? What is the point of dealing with the pain of perspective? Well, I am here to tell you it is a matter of life or death...well not quite, but if you were to gain the perspective of the pain of a man on his deathbed maybe it is. After all in Erik Erikson's stages of development the last stage at the point of death is integrity vs. despair. What perspective on your life will you have at the end stage?
Moving past the doom and gloom, the reason I bring this up is because I have encountered these pain points on a daily...shall we say even hourly rate. I feel as if my whole day is a challenge of maintaining a good perspective of the challenges of being a post-partum-stay-at-home-mom. I love being a mom. I love staying home. But the lack of sleep and getting into my head about how hard things can be makes the pain of knowing my attitude sucks even more stifling. Therefore I must undergo the pain of changing my attitude. But how! I don't know...other than some good ol' CBT and just trying to be healthy I don't have any of the answers.
Do you think there is pain in perspective? Do you have any tips on changing your perspective? Why should we undergo such pain?
